Tim says...

I swear Peter is of Al Qaeda. The similarities between him and Osama are mindboggling. Perhaps Peter Li is Osama Bin Laden in disguise??

Peter says...

VANCOUVER - A video has mysteriously surfaced in local television media showing what seems to be the "Peeping Tom" suspect: UBC fourth year student Peter Li. Li is known to police as extremely dangerous and is believed to be residing somewhere withing the UBC endowement lands. RCMP video analysts have confirmed that the man in the video is, in fact, the infamous Peter Li.

In the video, Peter Li warns that future invasions of privacy and personal security in the UBC and surrounding neighboorhoods is imminent. He seemed in good health and quite relaxed despite the unprecedented number of RCMP constables and canine units that have been assigned to scour the area. Li laughs defiantly at one point, amused at the feeble attempts to capture him. As to his future attacks, Li stops short of mentioning a target or location but instead mentions a time to expect the ominous attack: Sunday Morning.

Pat says...

sweet mother of crap.. i KNEW that person looked familiar...

Stephen says...

Nice try Timbo, UBC is actually GVRD (Greater Vancouver Regional District) Electoral Region A. City of Vancouver does not send us any notices because we are not Vancouver residents. All of our notices come from the RCMP. Which reminds me... Peter, why is your picture on all of those posters?

Tim says...

WARNING: To all UBC and surrounding residents

An asian male by the name of Peter Li, stature 5'9, with tiny slitty eyes has been seen prowling around the neighboorhood at night peeking into people's windows. His intentions are unknown, except that he was last reported near Colonial House drooling while staring through an open window.

Beware! This man is extremely dangerous when provoked! If you spot him, please do not try to apprehend him. Call 9-1-1 and let your local authorities deal with the situation.

This is a safety broadcasting from the Vancouver District of British Columbia.

As much as it pains me to say it, the only new music I've procured in the past four years has been from a music appreciation course... and that music is 200-800 years old.

Haha, if you like that, you should try the Sims 2 Character Generation. It's a blast trying to make other people, especially from memory. The wierdest traits stick out in our minds when we think of others, and they get emphasized ten-fold.

Hi Ghouls, Ghosts and Biochemists,

As October draws to an end, we again come to another Halloween. Unlike last year, we don't have a midterm near Oct 31st so we need something else to scare us. Or amuse, either/or, whatever tickles your fancy. So instead of speaking of the grim tale of a poor science student entering the forsaken wasteland that is our job market, I would like to propose an outing. It will take place on Saturday, October 30th (apparently some people want to celebrate Halloween of all things with their family?), and occurs in two movements.

First of all, those so inclined can meet up at Cindy's House at 3 PM to carve pumpkins into whatever things your twisted mind can divine. During which, the offending fruit (is a pumpkin a fruit??) or a close relative will be disemboweled and baked into a pie. Which will promptly be consumed in a vicious manner and such. After satiation we will don our festive gear (I call mad scientist!), and then head off to consume more food along Commercial drive.

Then we will join in a march of the deceased spirits, at around 8 PM. So those who are so inclined can join us at Grandview Park (Commercial and Napier St.- Near Britiannia) at this time instead of partaking in the ritual killing earlier (you will miss out on the pie tho... and the killin'!). I volunteered at this event last year and its absolutely fantastic. Great art displays, great fire dancers/eaters, great music and great police force for those worried. For those with curfews and/or are sissies, the fireworks will be done by 9:45 and we can shuffle out and do other fun activities.

So if you are interested let me know, so I can purchase pumpkins and such. As well as if you can drive please let me know! Suggestions/comments are always welcome so give me a shout.

Peter says...

whoa... jason's telepathic... comments on gordon's post before he even writes it... now that's whack...

Gordon says...

Doesn't that just mean they are pseudo-bisexual?

Oh...Guys....I heard that for every 10 years you wait before you become a father, your child has a 50% greater chance of developing schizophrenia!

Oh Karen.....any good news for me =P?

Pat says...

heh heh..

flexisexual... [patrick thinks back to umbrella moment with two guys after ultimate walking alongside together]

Thursday, October 21, 2004

Tim says...

You know, for a second there I thought the term 'flexisexual' was referring to yourself.

Karen says...

- in the headlines -

so i was on the bus this morning, half asleep, my nosy self half peering into other people's bus reading materials. and voila:

flexisexual: def., a straight person who flirts with gays.

?!...you know...in case we were wondering what was going on in the world today...
what kinda crazy world are we living in? hah.

had to share. care of the good ol' vancouver sun. have a good day guys.

Peter says...

Happy B-day Chris! Sorry again for not being able to make it. I got some project stuff that I gotta get done tonight. Hope you have fun tho... Las Margaritas food is killer.

Gordon says...

Happy Day of Birth Chris! (gotta be unique somehow since third post....)

Man...I called OMSAS yesterday because of this whole missing reference fiasco, and don't you just hate those phone calls with like 100 different options...and that just leads you to more options....and then before you get to talk to anyone..it says "thank you for calling" and they just hang up! Especially when it's long distsance and you did that option thing for like 15 minutes. So dumb.

Anyway, have a good party guys! Sorry for skippin out on you guys....but ...haha....bad...week.

Stephen says...

w00t!! Happy birthday Chris!!!

Karen says...

happy birthday chris!

I agree with Karen. As I have the attention span of Mongo (my new goldfish), I only tuned in for a few minutes, during the health care portion of the debate. And I must say, I find it very worrisome how Kerry's platform is "Bush is Bad. Very Bad. Bad bad bad." (Ok, maybe not exactly THAT, but he might as well call it that.) What kind of platform is just a bunch of complaints and no plan? And I was actually quite pleased with how Bush pointed out that out.

And I'm glad they're finally talking about something else. The way these debates were going, you'd think these Americans didn't have to eat or have familes because their whole lives revolved around Iraq. What happened to go ol' self-centeredness, eh?

But either one is bad. At least Kerry's wife makes ketchup.

Karen says...

- w00t indeed -

out of nowhere, my hotmail account has grown 125 times to 250 mb of storage. i only hope it's permanent.

aside: surprisingly, i thought bush did an okay job last night. i also liked how he kept smiling during the debate in response to critics complaining of his scowl the first two debates. hahahaha.

have a fantabulous day guys.

Stephen says...

You're forgetting that in twenty years $1000 will be worth even less than it is now, albeit no small sum. I propose that you all give me $1000 now so that I can properly exploit its current value, and in twenty years we'll see what I get you. Cheques can be made out to "Cash"...it's my maiden name. My birthday (and Star's) is on November 11th, that should give you enough time to come up with the money.

w00t: wrote three midterms today!!! No more 'til next week!!!

Tim says...

Hmm, that wouldn't be such a bad idea Pat. Since most of us are now 21, I would think that if we can all agree to 'stop aging', we can remain at that same youthful age. However, even though 20 yrs. from now we're still '21', we will experience the onset of wrinkles...perhaps even sooner for some haha. Perhaps then, assuming we're all still friends, we can afford to buy each other a bigger gift.

According to the law of 72, any gifts that we buy now for the next twenty year could be gathering interest. Let's see...assuming an avg. of $20 over the next twenty years (20x20=400) accumulating interest at 8%, your gift should be worth approx $1000. So would you prefer to have 20 'so-so' gifts or a BIG GIFT? :p

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
Three midterms tomorrow!!!

w00t: alcoholic beverage lab in Plants and Peoples! Sample products from the Agave family (viva Mexico, viva!)! Take that you BPP majors, I get to drink in class for free!

Pat says...

Man.. can you guys stop aging? My wallet can't handle it.

hey stephen:

w00t. [insert fire truck]

Karen says...

to everybody: you've just been the victim of (more) email spammage!

(yeah, even you peter, but that's only because chris wants you there.)

ahh...the thanksgiving story. i'm thankful for cranberry sauce, for disguising oh-so-well the horrid taste that is turkey. happy thanksgiving guys!

The ability to quote is a serviceable substitute for wit. (William Somerset Maugham)

Gordon says...

Sorry...I'm not usually a LONG posting person..but...whatever...ENJOY!

Canadian Thanksgiving

Long ago, before the first Europeans arrived in North America, the farmers in Europe held celebrations at harvest time. To give thanks for their good fortune and the abundance of food, the farm workers filled a curved goat's horn with fruit and grain. This symbol was called a cornucopia or horn of plenty. When they came to Canada they brought this tradition with them.

In the year 1578, the English navigator Martin Frobisher held a formal ceremony, in what is now called Newfoundland, to give thanks for surviving the long journey. He was later knighted and had an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean in northern Canada named after him--Frobisher Bay. Other settlers arrived and continued these ceremonies.

The third came in the year 1621, in what is now the United States, when the Pilgrims celebrated their harvest in the New World. The Pilgrims were English colonists who had founded a permanent European settlement at Plymouth Massachusetts. By the 1750's, this joyous celebration was brought to Nova Scotia by American settlers from the south.

At the same time, French settlers, having crossed the ocean and arrived in Canada with explorer Samuel de Champlain, also held huge feasts of thanks. They even formed 'The Order of Good Cheer' and gladly shared their food with their Indian neighbours. After the Seven Year's War ended in 1763, the citizens of Halifax held a special day of Thanksgiving. The Americans who remained faithful to the government in England were known as Loyalists.

At the time of the American revolution, they moved to canada and spread the Thanksgiving celebration to other parts of the country. many of the new English settlers from Great Britain were also used to having a harvest celebration in their churches every autumn.Eventually in 1879, Parliament declared November 6th a day of Thanksgiving and a national holiday. Over the years many dates were used for Thanksgiving, the most popular was the 3rd Monday in October. After World War I, both Armistice Day and Thanksgiving were celebrated on the Monday of the week in which November 11th occurred. Ten years later, in 1931, the two days became separate holidays and Armistice Day was renamed Remembrance Day.Finally, on January 31st, 1957, Parliament proclaimed...

"A Day of General Thanksgiving to Almighty God for the bountiful harvest with which Canada has been blessed ... to be observed on the 2nd Monday in October."

I would like to take this moment to notify everyone of some news that I've just received.

It's official. Tim is, in fact, a dwarf.

Hope this explains alot.

I'd also like to say thank you to those who bought me the sweater. I've worn it two days in a row now. Yes, I'm poor.

Joyce says...

Stephen says...

I know, I just figured it was funnier in a second post. Why are you posting blog messages so early anyways? w00t! Two more days until the long weekend (although I do have three midterms next Wednesday)!

Tim says...

Steve, you realize there is an 'Edit Post' option where you could've just corrected your 1st entry and added 'woot' right?

Tuesday, October 05, 2004

Stephen says...

Oh yeah, I forgot ... w00t.

Stephen says...

Too bad I'm god and you're not. You may line up outside my door for smitings. Happy birthday Peter, today you are excused from smittance.

Tim says...

If I was god I'd smite you all!
Alas, I am not god, nor am I an elf, a dwarf or a beaver.
What am I?

KING KONG!
(I dunno, I'm weird)

Gordon says...

OR....is he just a beaver that looks like a dwarf...meh...nevermind..he's just deformed :P

Joanne says...

I'm going on a saturday! Paying $30 to hear some guy from the Sutton Hotel and Le Daniel Chocolate Belge tell me how to match a port with chocolate. Bound to be fun. I plan on bussing to Coquitlam..woo! Boonies!

Yah, Tim only wishes he was an elf. But alas, he is simply a dwarf who looks like a beaver...

Karen says...

*hesitates*... okay fine.

happy birthday peter...=P

Stephen says...

Middle Earth ... you guys are such nerds. We're coming to your birthday, but you're still nerds. I'm gonna go watch Star Wars.

Sunday, October 03, 2004

vivienne says...

Hmm....Tim's from Middle Earth, eh?

.....

I always thought he was a beaver. But then again, if you look carefully enough...I guess he does look like a dwarf......

Tim says...

Damnit Peter, you screwed it up. I mean, how could you possibly screw up? I'm an elf and not a dwarf??? GEEZ

Peter says...

ok guys and girls, time for a shorty story.

21 years ago in the little town of yinchuan, central china, a baby boy was born and christened li, pengbai. unbeknownst to the underpaid and improperly trained obstetrician (who moonlighted as an illegal street vendor) at the time, this morbidly obese squinty-eyed baby would eventually become the infamous Peter Li, respected among his peers as the ingenious creator of completely irrelevant blog posts. 5 days later, within the deep recesses of Middle Earth, a baby dwarf named Tim Leung was also introduced into an unsuspecting human population. Today, he too is well respected among his human friends and praised enormously for acting "almost human"

On Saturday, October 9th, these two momumental events in modern history will be celebrated. Doing our best to make Tim feel at home during this celebration, the event will take place at Hell's Kitchen on W. 4th Avenue at 7PM sharp (5PM Peter Time).

Thanks,

Peter

P.S. sorry tim, but that's whut you get when u let me post it. muahahaha

Stephen says...

w00t!! Chocolate festival!! Sorry I wasn't at ultimate today, I had to clean my apartment (it was really awful, it took us about 6 hours). Did we win? If we lost (doubtful, we kick ass), was it crushing? Perhaps we can make it to this chocolate festival...when are other people going, and how the hell do I get to Coquitlam?

Tim: Congrats on longboat!!

Saturday, October 02, 2004

Joanne says...

Steve: details on the festival of the mother liquour can be found here

Tim says...

YAY, we advanced to longboat finals!

Friday, October 01, 2004

Tim says...

Sorry Steve, I thought you knew. I think half of us have already bought tickets to the chocolate festival.

Stephen says...

Why wasn't I informed of a chocolate festival?? When and where is this celebration of the mother liquor?

Joanne says...

I can't guarantee that I'll have time to attend all those plays (gah, darn all you co-cop people!) but if I happen to be free on a night you guys are going, I'll gladly purchase Student Rush tickets 8P...and sit away from you guys, but heck, we can't talk during the show anyway!

Speaking of which, did you know that there's a Chocolate Festival going on this October? Thought I'd let you guys know...and yes, I bought tickets already 8).

The Vancouver Opera House! I know, so seeing one show is like seeing five at the Stanley Theatre, but who can resist MADAMA BUTTERFLY???
