NeverGonnaGrowUp says...

greetings from the albany best western hotel...

1. 12hour bus ride with 2 layover was painful
2. last minute packing results in bringing the wrong things (i.e. i hav chris' notes. he probably has mine instead)
3. wireless access rocks. muhahahaha...

a long day today and will also be a long day tomorrow. gotta find an apartment soon cuz the hotel is just too damn pricy...

Joyce says...

Breat-shaped shampoo dispenser
This is disturbingly amusing, and makes you wonder why do men like boobies.
Is it because it's very feminine... or is it becasue it's... uhm.... mother-y and breast feeding related.

Now I have a comprehensive analysis of the difference of extreme climate in Taiwan, Vancouver and NY.
Say, if it's a sunny day at 30 degree C:
Vancouver is the most comfortable, least humid, but the sun is brightest and worst. You feel like being toasted.
NY is very humid. So humid that even my wall an paper felt wet. Because of the pollution and sky shielding buildings, the sun is slightly easier to bear.
Taiwan's the worst. The synergy of the island humidity and polution makes it feels ... wet and sticky. Imaging being in a steam room... and.. welcome to Taiwan!!!

Karen says...

howie's on p&c!!! hehehe. awesome awesome. hmmm, just in time for BRO duties i see...=P =P welcome KBA!!! (fyi: BRO = yours truly = birthday reminding/records officer)

edit: *lol* yes that's right uncle how!! long live asterisks denotation of action!!!

Gordon says...

PCF^3

All right everyone who's still in vancouver. I know everyone had a blast at the PCSGP (or whatever acronym KTo used) and I know you are all just filled with hope that another awesome "party" can happen. Well, here it is!

What: PCF^3 (haha... just needed to use an acronym....P&C Food Fun and Fire...corny, but this is what the heat and smog and humidity has done to me in Toronto)

What is it really?: Dinner at a place of your choice (or I'll just have to choose...) AND/OR beach at Spanish with the showing of the finale of the celebration of lights.

When: Saturday, August 5th

Time: 6pm (dinner); 8pm (beach)

Where: Dinner (TBA); Beach (Spanish)

So i've recruited the all familiar organizer KTo to help me harrass most of you this week...to see if you can make it to either or both of the anticipated events.

Hope all your summers have been awesome so far and see you SOON!

Joanne says...

Ben: Cologne for me!!!

Yah, I liked Harmony too. I admit my seat was small (but I was by the emergency exit so it wasn't so bad, muahaha) but I found the customer service to be very good. And at least I can get a pillow and blanket without having to pay unlike cheap ass Air Canada. I swear, if they didn't have more flight time selections, I would never fly with them.

But, overall, I like WestJet the best. Comfiest seats, cookies, and nothing beats the friendly flight attendants.

Wow! Last day in our apartment! The clock is really ticking now...

Bye bye flowers, bye bye friends, bye bye rain, bye bye Asian population with really good restaurants. We'll miss you all... except the goddamn rain!

Joyce says...

BEN: I call Florence, and will email you my NY addy.

HEHEHE... afer ranting about my dreaded flight... guess what, I was upgaded to FIRST CLASS because they overbooked business class (and I got that by using my mom's milage upgrade thingy).
mwahaha.. despite the turbulence and the scary landing, twas an awesome flight!
well.. still. i hate turblence..

Karen says...

re: joyce's corner.

i actually like harmony! admittedly the planes ARE smaller and old but that's because they are just starting up and have only north american flights. i've flown them twice now. their service was quick and efficient, friendly, helpful staff, and good airplane meals! i'm rooting for it to keep expanding to international flights and hopefully one day get their own new planes. AND harmony was founded by a hk-born vancouverite...heheehehe. *thumbs up*.

joyce, have fun in tw =P we'll miss you. =(

ben, i got florence! thanks =). i'll email you my addy.

Stephen says...

Joanne: Your package is in the mail! It should arrive in "7-10 business days". I watched some of the stuff I hadn't seen to make sure I wasn't missing anything, and yikes, Azumanga Daioh is the most irritating, cloying, sap-laden thing I've ever seen in my life. I sat through about ten minutes of it before shutting it down and restraining myself from snapping the CD in half lest its evil leak out into other areas of the world. I sent it to you instead.

Also, did anyone see Lain? Is it just me, or was it just Fight Club meets The Matrix with a bunch of extra plot holes thrown in?

NeverGonnaGrowUp says...

as one of my last posts from my beloved vancouver...

thanks joyce and karen for the wonderful farewell party. can't believe i'm leaving after 11 years of being here...i even cried last night cuz i didn't wanna go

ah well. i just want to take this opportunity to thank you all for all the good times (and bad) we shared, endured and survived. you will surely be missed. keep in touch everyone, and i'll let you know when i've arrived safely in TO and also when i finally settle down in albany. Pura vida!

Thanks Stephen!!! 8)

Karen says...

chris: WOW, something has finally emerged from the black hole that is YOUR camera!! a good life motto: gratified but never satisfied --> now how about mailing me that burned cd of the rest of P&C memories that you owe me =P???

*awwww*...anybody else feeling all nostalgic after seeing that group picture?? *sob* i'm gonna miss you guys!! (even though we actually don't see each other all that much even when you guys are in vancouver...*sigh* i suppose there is an upper limit to the number of friends one can have AND see regularly...and P&C in itself pretty much maxes the quota hehe.)

Stephen says...

Joanne: I can't be bothered with leftovers, so I'm going to send you the lot. Happy watching!

vivienne says...

Eh, Joanne, I have the Tokyo Underground series. XD It was a bonus from Stephen.

Hehhe...I figured you'd be the type to go for Ai Yori Yoshi :)

vivienne says...

Chris: Thanks for the piccies! I'm glad the group photo turned out great! Except that we couldn't even see the sunset, LOL...I loved the nighttime Vancouver shoreline pic though.

Joanne says...

Stephen: I'd be happy to take the anime off your hands. How about Inu Yasha, Tokyo Underground, Hikaru No Go and Ai Yori Yoshi (hehe, I like the fantasy stuff for Japanese Men based on what I saw of Love Hina...there was a term for it but I forgot what it was...)? Alas, I'm in Toronto... Wait a minute, I think I'm still waiting for a cheque from you for Bard on the Beach. How about this, send the DVDs to me the cheapest way possible and consider your debt paid 8p.

Christopher: You'll be in Toronto soon! Did you and Cindy still want to do dinner during your brief stay here? Let me know. I'm busy Thursday and Friday, but any other day is good!

Stephen says...

OK. We're moving really soon, so I need to give the rest of my anime to someone. Anybody, please, take this off my hands (very cheap) otherwise it all goes in the garbage. I think we all know what a waste that would be, considering we've all experienced downloads taking forever to produce crap-quality stuff (not that I actually downloaded this myself, but I'm trying to get you to see the shame in throwing this all out).

Gordon says...

Holy crap, have I been gone that long? I don't recognize half of you guys in those pictures!

Christopher says...

Heya!

Amazingly I've decided to release some of my photos. I figure I have enough blackmail material for now.

joyce, post pics please =) =) =).

sushi places - i really like e-bei all you can eat (it's @ granville and 41st). better selection than most places AND it has mango pudding =P=P=P...you know...IF you happen to be a fan of those...hehe. (actually fish on rice has mango pudding too.) but e-bei is a bit more expensive than some other places...22 or 23 without tax/tips. shabusen is also consistently pretty good for good price (granville and 14th)...19 without tax/tips AND you get bbq'd meats!

Joyce says...

This is the time for ..*drum roll*
random pictures of Scarlett Johansson

Tim says...

When you mean more than California rolls and tuna rolls what exactly do you mean? Most all-you-can eat places do have more selection than that. However, if your a fan of sashimi than I suggest Fish on Rice on Kingsway near Willingdon (relatively near metrotown). It has the best selection and the best tasting sushi I've had for an all-you-can eat sushi location. Costs approx. $25 after tax and tip.

vivienne says...

Hehe...last night was fun. Thanks Karen and Joyce for setting it up.

Can someone blog up the beach photo from last night? :D Chris? Joyce?

Stephen says...

Fun party last night, yo!

I forgot to ask you guys yesterday, where is there a good-quality, all-you-can-eat sushi place that lets you order more than just Califonia and tuna rolls? Does one exist? My workplace wants to do sushi as a going-away party, and I said I'd try and find a location. Any ideas?

Gordon says...

Stephen says...

Don't just sit around eating congee all night either. Star and I won't be able to make the dinner, so we'll have to meet up with you at the beach. So you better all be there!

Stephen says...

Thanks Joyce! I love my new skully-poo!

Yes, I'm sure that on some base level most celebrities are pretty (exceptions including but not limited to: Tori Spelling, Nicole Ritchie, and the Hilton Horrors), but I still think that anybody who get paid to do nothing but keep themselves looking good can look as good as they do. They have the worlds best stylists, hair, and makeup artists working on them daily(although, we've seen lots of proof that switching stylists can be a very good idea now and again), and personal trainers to keep them fit.

If I had millions of dollars to spend on myself, hair and fashion stylists, and a team of personal trainers, I would look that good too.

Karen says...

in comparison to their makeup-ed selves...of course everybody's uglier la! but hey, put any amount of makeup, tanning lotions on most girls of the general population (mayhaps star is an exception =P) and we would still not look as hot as jessica alba on screen (as fake as her tan may be). have you guys SEEN pictures of that girl in a bathing suit?? she's HOT. i don't think it's all makeup. celebs must have some innate bare bone features. i mean, if you're ugly, no amount of makeup will help that!

viv: just got your msg. i must say, your dorkiness rivals mine...*high five* sista! =P =P =P.

vivienne says...

Even though I'm totally wincing from Steve's attack on Jessica Alba (I'm a fan, heh), I have to agree with both him and Joyce in the fact that...most celebrities are "hot" just because of the make-up, clothes, and camera/lighting effects. I mean, have you guys SEEN the before and after of the winner of Canada's Next Top Model?, Andrea?. (Yes, Karen, I share your pain---Sisi should've won! :P) God, I swear 99.9% of Hollywood/model celebrities are pretty only because of the aforementioned factors.

Anyhow, Star is really pretty and cute, so of course that would tweak Steve's opinion of Jessica Alba. LOL

I echo Gordon's sentiments though....Natalie Portman had BETTER be a natural beauty or else I'm going to be very very disappointed. :p And Gord, I CAN'T WAIT TILL YOU'RE BACK IN VAN!!!!

Stephen says...

It appears that I need to make a clarification.

I don't want to be misunderstood in that I think Jessica Alba is ugly, she's definitely pretty. It's just that I've seen so many average girls on the street who are much prettier. Then, of course, there's my wife, who's much, much prettier than both Jess and the random street chicks.

Joyce: which email should I be sending to, Gmail or Yahoo?

Gordon says...

STEVE and JOYCE! Don't ruin Hollywood for us! I hope you never see Natalie Portman or Reese or my fantasies will be over. and Jessica Alba may not be pretty or "cute" but she's still hot.

Btw...Toronto is actually starting to grow on me. NOT the weather (esp with no a/c in my apt OR office)... but the people in my lab are like another family. Funny how being stuck here for 3 months and hating it for two can make me feel nostalgic about my time here when I know my time is limited.

Anyhow, hope everyone has a blast on Monday and safe trips to wherever your final destinations will be.

And see the rest of you in TWO WEEKS!

Thursday, July 20, 2006

Joyce says...

steve, hear hear!
I never understand why people think she's hot. Her body, maybe, but that face... oh no no no. Just because she does a LOT of eye make up and has a pair of thick and pouty lips does not mean that she's good looking or "hot." The way she does her facial expression on the few occasions i've seen her (uhm... some interviews... in some award shows) is so fake that you gotta doubt if she has any real personality or brain.
I think the reason why steve didn't recognize her was because she didn't have any make up on.

hmm... this makes me think.. who are the natural beauties in the ever-so-dramatic Hollywood??
i think jessica simpson looks good even w/o make up.

btw, Advil is wonderful.

Karen says...

steve: we can move the time back for you guys! email me back.

Stephen says...

My wife is hotter than Jessica Alba.

I can say this because I saw Jessica Alba today, and was able to make a very good comparison. She was shooting a movie at the end of the block where I work, and I walked past her this morning without even recognizing her (not that I was really on the lookout for Jessica Alba's). I remembered passing a girl in orange with a white guy next to her shooting what I thought was a commercial or low-budget TV show. Then I got to work and found out that I had passed within a foot of a famous multi-millionairess.

After dinner, Star and I went back to the location and saw her again. She's really not all that special looking, it certainly seems that camera and photoshop magic does a lot for people.

I don't have anything against Jessica, it's just that I was surprised to note how different celebrities look when you see them up-close. You think to yourself, "you aren't really that phenomenally beautiful, so why are you famous?" No offense Jess, but it's not because of your acting. I saw Dark Angel, I know the extent of your thespian abilities.

It was just a weird mixture of both awe and disappointment, "there's a celebrity!" followed by "that's it?"

Anyway, enough of using this blog as my own personal rant space. I had my own blog where I did that, but I've long since stopped updating it, because nobody read it but me.

As far as the 24th, Star and I probably can't make dinner. I'm not off until 6:30, and I'll want to go home and change into beach clothes (Star won't really go to dinner without me, either). So we'll see you at the beach!

Karen says...

PCSGP Proposal

unless there are objections, here's the plan.

monday, the 24th, dinner @ congee noodle house. (chosen for sake of tradition i guess, recall that we've had several goodbye parties there in the last couple of years AND what better way to say send off our friends than with the wholesome goodness and warm and fuzzy and homey feeling of congee?...heh.) after dinner, we can hangout @ the beach, spanish banks would be lovely. (good call steve. bbq would have been awesome but with a group this big, it would take way too much prep time.) on monday, it's a predicted HIGH of 32 and LOW of 20, no winds and POP of 10%... sounds like beach weather to me!!!

dinner will be tentatively booked @ 6. "5:30" for those need to tell themselves that, you know who you are. =P i'm pushing for an earlier dinner so that we can maximize sunshine before sunset, please let me know if there's a time conflict. i will re-confirm on here AND via email after i book the restaurant. so far, we have approximately 16 +/- 2 people coming so it should be good.

have a fantabulous weekend. =) =) =).

Stephen says...

Sounds good. I'd like to throw out Spanish Banks as a location (I don't know how the tally's going so far). It's free, spacious, and will be conducive to things such as pick-up ultimate and football, as well as barbecuing.

(because i'm slacking off @ work and have the time to do this...)

confirmed/almost-confirmed attendees of PCSGP, = P&C Summer Goodbye Party, (i have this new thing with stupid, unhelpful acronyms =P) --

guests of honour (in chronological departure date order): cindy, chris, patrick, star, stephen, peter, joyce

other invitees: leo, tim, viv, ben, likai, howard, william

unconfirmed invitees -- becca, jason (who IS still around!), christina, christine

did i forget anybody? or other people who should be invited?

Karen says...

viv: *LOL*. i double checked my VCR like 3 times before i left the house this morning. i have to tape it cuz i have ultimate tonight. i even set the timer for an extra hour in case it's one of those 2-hour specials, but i doubt it huh? hehehehehe. i won't be able to watch it til tomorrow night i think. do NOT tell me who won!! yeah, gotta root for the chinese chick! heheheh. =P i love how retarded we sound talking about that show, but it's just too awesome =) =) =). *high five viv*

vivienne says...

Joyce and Karen: Thanks for setting it up! ^______^ You guys are the best!!!

Joyce: Come to think of it, I think I must be the only Vancouverite that hasn't seen you yet since your return. X_x

Cindy: Yay for laptops! I have one too, and seriously, it's the coolest thing to be able to sit in the living room watching TV AS you're MSGing your friends. Bwahaahah

Karen: CANADIAN TOP MODEL FINALE TONIGHT!!!! I hope that Sisi wins, 'cause she cracks me up. XD XD XD can't wait!!!!!

- P&C Summer Goodbye Party -

MONDAY, July 24th.

Time: Dinner and beyond.

Place (for dinner and post-dinner hangout): Currently taking suggestions -- blog/email/msn/cell me/joyce. (Otherwise, we will choose =P.)

Karen says...

re: laptops

TOTALLY AGREE cindy!! yeah yeah, laptops are way more expensive than they're worth, but i mean, just taking your laptop everywhere with you around the HOUSE even (never mind the convenience of bringing it to work or school), it's so fun! i mean, i can do my powerpoint presentations directly in front of tv, msn in bed, email in the kitchen while i'm eating, etc. etc. etc. hehehehe.

NeverGonnaGrowUp says...

back to awesome vancouver
jetlagging tho...so tired...slept 4 hours on plane, barely 3 hrs last night, and woke up at 830am in fear of forgetting to cancel my doc's appointment

viv: nah dont worry about celebrating my bday, its old news.

p.s. typing on your bed is fun. lol. (i bought a laptop in tw)

vivienne says...

Steve: Hehe...actually, I wasn't trying to shorthand Star's name at all. I just meant write "& etc", but totally forgot to type "etc." :p My bad.

Stephen says...

Three things:

Firstly, I think you mean "customized", Joyce. "Costumized" refers to wearing costumes, and I doubt that our headings will be dressed up as Ronald McDonald anytime soon.

Secondly, Vivienne, I believe you meant to type an asterisk and not an ampersand when attempting to cop out of actually writing my wife's name.

Thirdly, also for Viv, we can make the swap at the party on Monday. Any details for time and place yet (of the party, not necessarily the swap)?

Monday, July 17, 2006

vivienne says...

Gordon, shush. :p

haha...funny thing happened the other day. As usual, I'm sitting there bored stiff in the lab, and Mehran (my lab mate) comes over, and goes..."Man....I'm so bored. Let's watch something on the computer. We really should watch some porn music videos." (and he says this with a totally straight face) I say, "Excuse me?" He repeats, "I said, we should watch some porn music videos. I know some really good ones."

Turns out, he's just not enunciating his words enough, and he was trying to say foreign music videos. Hahahahahahah......

Gordon says...

haha viv...u're more out of the loop than I am! Ben's thing was Saturday!!

vivienne says...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bwahahhhah, join the dark side!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aside, are we having a b-day thing for Ben and Cindy? (maybe when Cindy comes back?..or just separately?)

Steve: Cool! Negotations over, how do I get the $$$ to you and &?

Viv: Deal! I'm throwing in Tokyo Undergound too because the last two episodes of Chobits are on the same disc as the first two of Tokyo Underground, and I can't sell the set without the first disc.

vivienne says...

HAPPY 23rd BIRTHDAY CINDY!!!!!!!!! :D

To Tim:

> ___ < ;;;;;;;;;;;;

LEOOOOO, Tim's shrimping me!!!!

Tim says...

Steve, I'll offer $12.01 just to piss VVN off (not a serious offer)

Joyce says...

Alright, if I code any more, I'll go completely crazy.

IE sucks at recognizing some of the stuff here and goes out of control, while Firefox is perfectly fine.

note to everyone: use firefox (oh the joy of tab browsing).

NeverGonnaGrowUp says...

thanks karen :)

wish i was there to witness your audibility. LOL. that is quite hilarious...too bad i couldnt go this time. next year then, eh, everyone?

3 days left to my stay in taiwan. must eat more smelly tofu...

Friday, July 14, 2006

vivienne says...

Steve: seeing how I'm neither rich nor poor, just a regular middle-class kid, how about the three for $12? Hmm...is that even sound haggling? Gah...

Stephen says...

Viv: Is that what those are? My friend sent me a bunch of anime, and to be honest, I never even got through it all. I guess that tells me a little about him. Anybody remember Dan from my wedding? Hmmm.....

Yes, all of the sets are complete and subbed. You can have them for $15, or $10 if you're poor.

vivienne says...

Steve: Hm. I wouldn't mind adding Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi, Fruits Basket and Chobits to my collection. I assume they're complete (Furuba and Chobits?) and subtitled? How much for the three?

And...hehe...I'm surprised you have so many of those high-school, fantasy for japanese men animes. Love Hina AND Aoi Yori Yoshi? LOL

Stephen says...

Viv:
Sen to Chihiro no Kamigakushi
Fruits Basket
Inu Yasha (1-60 or so)
Scryed
Shaman King (10 or so eps)
One Piece (16 eps)
Love Hina
Tokyo Underground
Ai Yori Yoshi
Lain (10 eps)
Azumanga Daioh (4 eps)
Chobits
Rockman Exe (20 eps)
Hikaru no Go (about 60 eps)

If you want them, they're yours for a very small fee.

Karen says...

HaPpY BiRtHdAy CINDY!! best wishes from across the pacific. =) =) =)

(note: her birthday is actually on the 15th, i'm compensating for time zone difference. =P)

vivienne says...

hahahaaa...whoever put that quote up is a genius. I can totally hear Karen screaming like that even though I wasn't there...

Gordon, I am so already beyond Redbull. Damn, I MAKE redbull in my system...aHhahahahHaaaaahahahaaahaaaaa....!!!

And Steve, what titles do you have? Man, anything you've got is better than watching Tunak Tunak Tan for the billionth time while I'm waiting for my gel to set/PCR to be over/supervisor to talk to me.....:P

Stephen says...

This is probably pointless because you all download stuff anyways, but does anyone want my anime VCD collection? I've watched it all, and it's not coming with me. Email me if you're interested. stephennap@gmail.com

Wow, that's an old conundrum. We beat that to death a while ago... Gordon, get with it.

Speaking of Edmonton, I can't believe they traded Pronger for Lupul. As a coach, if I had Pronger, I would hang on to him clutching for dear life!

Gordon says...

Oh Pat, so like you to turn something sad about yourself into something cynical about another. Suck it up and admit it...YOU MISS ME!

As for everyone else... you're probably right... and viv, my own sister too! You will be sentenced to 1 year of NO REDBULL O.o; (haha... am i using your symbol right?)

Karen says...

in defense of my *ahem* much-criticized "audibility" these days, i was a really quiet kid. my vocal chords and voice box have only began to grow in hs and matured in uni. i just need to learn to use my *whisper* "inside voice" again. heheheehehehe. plus that fish was one trooper!!

*continues to whisper* and thus, i resent the quote of the week. grrr. actually i think i've exceeded the annual quota for quotes of the week per member. next person la!!!

hahah actually the delusion that we thought you were there just asserts the fact it doesn't matter whether you are there or not... so really.. yeah.. its the same when you're gone as if you were here. HAhaha... unlike MJ that is. omg.. we need a 4th.

And btw -- that is not a psychopath test at all. Just because some people in this group lack logic doesn't make people who are logical, psychos..

and leo rarely posts.. maybe you should stop picking on him when he can't defend himself.... or he might headbutt you in the stomach... (that's something I can see him doing.. but not a psycho act)

Gordon says...

haha..so funny. I think you guys are missing me SO SO much that you have been daydreaming about me being with all of you in vancouver. If you haven't noticed outside of your illusions, I wasn't at peter's going away thing because...I LIVE IN EDMONTON! .... =P

NeverGonnaGrowUp says...

the above mentioned psychopath question was discussed over my kitchen island during peter's going away fondue party...

i thought gordon was there too. guess he left. cuz i thought we'd already seen that question...

vivienne says...

OMG....Gordon, I can't believe you even brought up that conundrum. I thought we totally killed that one (and other conundrums, just like we did with Mafia) last time at Cindy's house. :p :P :P

And yeah, Karen, you remembered. LOL. I think basically all the in-towners were there at that fondue party...that's when we did it...it was partially Peter's going away party too I think???? Tim and Leo already knew the answer....and LEO answered it in like...FIVE SECONDS!!!!!!!!! there's our psychopath RIGHT HERE IN OUR GROUP!!!!

Gordon says...

anyhow... i'm bored, so i'll put up the answer to the psychopath question:

Answer:
She was hoping the guy would appear at the funeral again. If you answered
this correctly, you think like a psychopath. This was a test by a famous
American Psychologist used to test if one has the same mentality as a killer.
Many arrested serial killers took part in the test and answered the
question correctly.

...
so yeah...i guess we were able to bring forth atleast joanne... good things she's staying in TO! We'll just have to kill leo. So that opens a spot for Tofino!

Tim says...

Haha yeah, everyone stay away from Leo....he'z a psychopath!!!

Joyce says...

she's a psychopatch, and she kills for no reason. maybe she killed her mom too.
or maybe she kills her sis for "satisfaction."

k. too much horror movies for me

Joanne says...

So she can attend another funeral and meet that guy again.

Karen says...

24th it is?? =P

psychopath test: a couple of us had a discussion about this already. psychosis and this group, of course it's come up! =P and err, no i don't think it's a very good test. hmm so it is real, i just thought viv made it up when she told us. *lol*. remember this whoever was there that time, viv? leo? pat? tim? no worries, i won't ruin for those who haven't done it.

Gordon says...

Hey boys and girls, as we have all been questioned to be weird and psychopathic sometime in our lives, below is a LEGIT psychopathic test that american psychologists use for serial killers/murderers:

Psychopath Test

Read this question, come up with an answer. This is not a trick question. It is as it reads. No one I know has gotten it right.

A woman, while at the funeral of her own mother, met a guy whom she didnot know. She thought this guy was amazing. She believed him to be her dream guy so much, that she fell in love with himright there, but never asked for his number and could not find him. A fewdays later she killed her sister.Question: What is her motive for killing her sister?

[Give this some thought before you answer]

I will post the answer sometime this/next week... so you can find out if you really are...a psychopath.

Going away party... haha... right before i come back. Awwwesome.

Stephen says...

Hmmm...

I believe a farewell party is in order. I'm not sure about dates yet, but I did move my ticket so that I'm now leaving on the 12th with Starry. It sounds like the 24th is going to be the day, so I'll see what I can do.

Seriously, we have lots of stuff. Please come and take some. We are having a community garage sale on the 15th, unfortunately we live amongst the cheapest people ever, so I'm not sure that anything will go. Last time, we were selling clothing for $1 per item, and somebody was trying to haggle with Star over a brand new pair of Buffalo jeans. It's a goddamn dollar, take it or leave it! Anyways, there will also be an apartment sale on the 23rd. This is not about making money, it's about getting rid of our stuff! It's not junk, we just can't move it!

NeverGonnaGrowUp says...

aww a farewell party?!

the 26th is not so good for chris and i because i believe he already has plans for him and i...

i'm available 24th and 25th, and of course we can still do stuff after we get home from camping on the 23rd as well (right papie?). dinner and beach/house gathering sounds great. lol.

p.s. second hurricane in taiwan since i've been here. expecting lots of rain and shortage of water soon. it is fun to watch ppl suffer outside with their umbrellas going through SN2...

Karen says...

- a heads up -

so as the end of july is all too quickly approaching, we will be saying goodbye to some dear friends and P&C members for at the very least a couple months to a year to unknown lengths of time. joyce and i are currently trying to organize a P&C FAREWELL GATHERING on either the 24th or the 26th (mon/wed, sorry guys work nights i know). we will contact you guys individually to check availabilities. the dates are currently set such that we can catch chris/cindy/peter together as chris/cindy are first to leave us on the 27th of this month. but let us know if those dates don't work for you. plans are tentatively dinner and beach/house gathering.

Karen says...

cindy: camping trip was like all P&C trips, quite very awesome. =) joyce and i had ample room in our girls tent, wish you could've been there!!

Leaky Wang!!!! says...

Well, verbal jousting and also some slight physical contact/interferrances like pinching, nudging between players are actually quite common in competitive sports. However, there is a certain etiquette associated with the extent of psych games you're allowed to exact on your check. Lets just hope that the investigation will shed more light on this issue to prove that Metera-whatever his name is guilty of transgressing that fine line between doing his job and being an ignoranus. Be that as it may, I'm still VERY disappointed that the Italians stalled so much time with their over dramatic performances. I guess the Italians have had much practice at faking it on a different "field". Wankers.

vivienne says...

Joyce: I totally agree with you on the refereeing and the so called "injuries" :P seems like every 30 seconds there would be an Italian on the ground moaning or writhing. They were dropping like flies for the whole game LOL...and it IS funny that they get up so quickly once the French are penalized.

Likai: YEAH...I read that in today's 24 and Metro too...(haha..you gotta love freebie newsmags) I dunno...they REALLY should look into what really happened. It's really stupid how they penalize the slightest physical abuse but neglect to penalize verbal ones. *sigh*

Stupid referees!!! that's all I gotta say.

Leaky Wang!!!! says...

Italy's Marco Materazzi refutes allegations that he called Zinedine Zidane a "dirty terrorist" before the Frenchman's head-butt and sending off.

"It is absolutely not true," Materazzi said when the victorious Italy team returned to Rome on Monday. "I did not call him a terrorist. I'm ignorant. I don't even know what the word means."

http://www.shoutwire.com/viewstory/19236/Zidane_Called_Dirty_Terrorist_By_Italian_Player

What an idiot man...that just makes him look that much worse. Stupid Italian wanker.

Joyce says...

zidane's known to be mellow and quiet. however, he probably doesn't respond to verbal insults well given the reasons of his past red cards, and I think Materazzi knows just that.
If you take a closer look at the games, a tiny brush on the leg, shoulder, etc, the italians are on the ground moaning until the ref stopped the game, giving them the posession or even hand a card to the opponent, and then they'd jump up like nothing had happened.
When Zidane was hurt but those dirty moves his defender put on, he quitely sat there and signal the med team for treatment. the italians would probably be rolling on the ground and crying for their mother if the same thing happened.

sigh. seeing all the faking, I'm wondering if FIFA's instruction to their ref's to card every tripping or tackling from behind (or appearant tripping) is the rove move or not. and.. man... they gotta train their refs!!!

vivienne says...

Incidentally, I looked up Zidane on Forbes.com and apparently he had head-butted someone previously and had left the guy unconscious. O.O;;; perhaps that is why the referees gave him a red card...

Still...blah. I wanted France to win...but the Italians looked so happy. ^-^

Joyce says...

Stupid Italians.
Some said Materazzi said some racial slur to him. Zizou's a pretty mellow and quiet person unless you really provoke him. bah... and that stupid italian, he was totally faking it.
stupid Italian drama team...

NeverGonnaGrowUp says...

how did camping go, guys?

Sunday, July 09, 2006

Stephen says...

That was bullshit. I can't believe Zidane would do something like that. In his retirement game to boot...

Have I mentioned recently that I hate Italy?

vivienne says...

Stupid Zidane. What the hell was he thinking pulling off a stunt like that in the last game?!!? I had dessert riding on the French winning the cup, too...blah.

Oh, well. Glad I watched it anyhow....

Gordon says...

Welcome back campers. Haha....I bet there were some angry people on the way back after a nice penalty kicking win by the Italians.

Stephen says...

Today was a good day!

My boss called in the morning, said that it was a slow day and I didn't have to come in to work, Germany smashed Portugal 3-1, and I went to the beach!

I love summer!

Friday, July 07, 2006

Stephen says...

It's been a while, so here goes:

FUCK!!!!!!!!! Stupid fucking Italy! They spent all their time rolling on the ground like the injured worms they are, and got a lucky goal at the end of extra time. Bastards! Then, I go back to work the next day, and all my Italian coworkers tell me what a great game Italy played! Fuck that! I thought the World Cup was a men's football tournament, not a children's one! Chris: I disagree, "after the way they played" Italy should be banned from non-acting competitions. Juventus better get demoted to Seria C!

YAY! No more Cloutier to fuck things up! I think Linden should be put on the first line instead of Morrisson, too. He's a better playmaker.

We are moving soon. My last day of work is July 26th, the moving truck comes for our stuff on the 29th, and I move on the 1st. Star will follow on the 12th. So, firstly, we should have some sort of party before we go (ice cream?); and secondly, if anyone wants to buy some stuff cheap (VERY cheap) i.e.: TV, VCR, DVD, appliances, books, desks, table/chairs... etc. let me know (by phone or email, because we've all seen how frequently I'm on the blog).

That's all for now.

Go France.... fucking Italians

Peter says...

stupid joyce... just had to rub that in...

Joyce says...

MWAHAHA...

Where are we? Manning park!!
What are we doing? CAMPING!!!

mwahahah. :p

*runs away*

Christopher says...

I'm going to have to beg to differ about the Cloutier trade. Nonis got exactly what he wanted for him. Noone was going to give up a first round draft pick for an uncertain injured goalie, especially knowing the incredible desperation of the Canucks to offload him. The only shame is that he went to a conference rival. Now with that cap room freed up, we actually have hopes of having someone other than Matt Cooke be our top line right wing lol.

NeverGonnaGrowUp says...

oh now that i have time i might as well put my stuff on the itinerary :D

July 17 Cindy returns to Vancouver
July 27 Chris returns to TO and Cindy follows
July 31 Cindy moves to Albany
August 23 Cindy starts school orientation

NeverGonnaGrowUp says...

so jealous that u guys are gona go camping soon! have fun u guys, i'll be thinking of u as i sit here bored and whiny.

i think if i sit here long enough and forget to drink water, in a couple of hours, i will be as dry as the laundry that i had just put up a couple minutes ago...

Peter says...

karen: you know, i can't believe that you actually find joy in laughing at these poor victims of such childish pranks... shame on you karen...

*goes on youtube*
*10 minutes later*

i loved it when the guy sees the lights on the side and he's like "what... the..." LOL... "COUNTEDOWN KAISHI!" hahaha

Christopher says...

No qualms about Italy winning. It would have been a shame to let it go to penalties after the way they played.

Joyce: Yay for tripods! I brought one to Europe and I don't regret it. This pic was taken in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

Joyce says...

NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

the italian squad might as well make a documentary of this match and they'll will the best actors in every film festivals/awards.

bah.

Karen says...

- a little something retarded for those post-long-weekend mornings -

anyway, i was sent this youtube link last night. i don't have the link with me right now so i'll just describe it. so anyway, in japan, they have these public outhouses set up. you know, it has a door and it's a tiny cubicle for you to do your thing on streets should you need to. so then as a joke, they set up these "special outhouses". guy walks in. silent timer goes on, 10 secs, 9, 8, 7... @ 1 second, the roof of the outhouses shoots open and the floor of the outhouses starts to rise... and so guy with pants down and all, with the urinal/toilet rises like an elevator to the top of the outhouse. and all the people on the streets can see you up there with a toilet with your pants down. *lol*.

so similarly, they put version 2.0 of these outhouses by the beach. so 10, 9, 8, 7...and @ 1 second, door of the outhouse flies open and there's a speedboat that's dragging you and your toilet into the ocean and you're water-skiing with the toilet, holding on to this handle bar. of course, things are censored and they only do this to guys. it's soooo funny to see the expression on these people's faces. hahahahahahhaha. to those people reading this and going omg, that is so retarded. yes exactly. *lol*. sue me, it's tuesday morning, the monday morning of this week.

ANYWAY, umm yeah, a little slightly inappropriate, highly 'dumb and dumber' humor for the morning. =P =P =P.

Joyce says...

uhm... here's a confession, reading gizmodo.com has been encorporated into my daily routine for a while. here's a tip for taking firework pics i just got from thjere.

use a tripod, use a remote control or a timer to press the shutter button, use a long exposure time and shutter speed, turn off the flash, and pick a great location. Sounds like a lot of common-sense suggestions. We might add one more: while you're taking pictures of fireworks, don't forget to look at them w/ your own eyes.

Gordon says...

Thanks guys for all the bday wishes. I'm still stuck in Saskatoon right now... about to go home today after 3 days of staying in room with two beds and 7 people. Haha..that was fun (and also why I'm awake at 8am in the morning after sleeping at 5). The wedding was a blast (with a sweet dessert buffet with those hazelnut puddings that they had at the BPP grad dinner/dance in 2nd year)...it's always a weird feeling when a good buddy gets married. The funny thing is, I felt a deja vu(s) (is there an "s" Karen?) with this wedding and Steve/Stars: farm, bbq before the wedding, tonnes of mosquito bites, in some remote city, staying in a room with more than its capacity.

Anyhow, hope you all have an awesome time on the camping trip and that it isn't screwed up because Karen/Joyce planned it (hehe...juuuuuuuuuust kidding...). Eat some yogurt raisons for me and go to the washroom extra times =P

man, what a huge upset for brazil... then again, it sounds like they deserved it (didn't watch the game cuz it was at 3am)... zidane really performs when the pressure's on, huh?

Leaky Wang!!!! says...

Happy birthday old man Gordon :)

vivienne says...

Hee hee hee...

Happy Birthday Gordon! ^______^

*multiple hugs*

NeverGonnaGrowUp says...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CANADA!

wish i was there...(instead of in this heat)...

Peter says...

congrats on being halfway to 25 haha (saw your msn)... man, we're all getting so old... maybe if i were already established and successful it wouldn't feel so bad :p

Unknown says...

AHH! I'm finally gonna go camping with you guys! It's been a long time coming....... So anything I can bring? Aside from a sleeping bag?... and what's for food?

Happy BDay Gordo!!! (from both me and Becca)

Hmmm who do you guys think will fill Bert's shoes on Canucks' top line? There isn't a lot of choice out there in terms of wingers.... Langenbrunner... Shannahan... Maybe we can ship Morrison and acquire Arnott plus another winger
