Peter says...

hmm karen sounds like she's babbling again, so i'll 'extract' the five sentences that pat maybe looking for in his search for a new admin... and i QUOTE:

1. "i don't want the... p&c title"
2. "i just wanna be... old and moldy and smelly... for the good of all mankind"
3. "tears"
4. "i don't know html"
5. "my abilities as an admin is limited"

and the last one doesn't even have correct subject-verb agreement... i dunno man, doesn't make for a very strong case...

NeverGonnaGrowUp says...

re: tofino water. seriously? LOL...tsk tsk Karen!! just kidding...but that is just too funny...
*****
a day of lecture later, which i spent watching the girl in front of me coloring her notes with blue, pink, orange, purple, and of course yellow highlighter, i absorbed absolutely nothing. it sucks that we already have a midterm a week from labor day.

Karen says...

but i already gave reasons below! i should get bonus points for jumping the gun before the "search" for p&c's next top admin even began. (viv, doesn't that make you so nostalgic for ANTM??) AND i even have signatures (well virtual agreements) to back me up. i don't want the founding father of p&c title, i mean that's yours...i just wanna be able to update sidebars that are old and moldy and smelly...for the good of all mankind... i just want... to make this world a better place... *fakely wipe away fake tears, add dramatic sigh*

PS: maybe we don't need to get rid of any admins...i mean, REALLY, most of the time the existing admins are MIA anyway... so when they decide to come visit p&c, they (you) should still be able to change stuff... remember, IF i get admin status, i don't know html...alors my abilities as an admin is limited anyhow.

Pat says...

So... considering its true that updating has been lacking of late, I think I will finally pass the torch on to someone else and set free my status of the father of the phish and chips website. So in 5 sentences or less, if YOU can convince me why you should be Phish & Chips' next top Admin perhaps you too can be as cool as me. We can only wish but yeah... maybe.

Karen says...

sorry no lame attempts at defending myself this time guys. i LOVE my long showers. it's sooo refreshing, how do you think i stay sane and happy all the time?? (or at least have the energy to pretend! hahah.) PLUS, i did NOT take a one-hour shower, i swear it was only half an hour or less cuz like you said viv, the showers were umm, less than spectacular and fragrant. remember, we only took one shower per two days, so compared to my one hour per day...i cut down by 75%!! hehehehe. yeah, my mom likes to blame me for our hydro bill every once in a while too... at least i'm super clean!

tim: you know my copyrighted msn punching emoticon, 0-----o !! hehehe.

cindy: i've been reading your blog. sounds like albany's a blast!! somehow i can see your alcohol tolerance surpass mine these next few years...=P

peterli: you've gotten more charming since your move to alberta...kicking ppl in places, throwing sand, sitting on people, calling me names... just like old times. hehehe. ahh, some things never change................just wait til i'm admin! muahahaha. =P

vivienne says...

Yeah, Karen.....I waited half an hour for you in that stinky washroom. LOL. Told you not to press that shower button so many times.

Tim says...

Taps shut at Tofino

"An extreme water shortage has prompted the Vancouver Island community of Tofino to order all local businesses closed by Friday, leaving tourists and wedding parties scrambling to make alternate plans for the last holiday weekend of the summer.

The order issued Tuesday is intended to help preserve the remaining water supply. It applies to all hotels, restaurants and other food service businesses in the district."

Great job Karen, look at what YOU did!!
Now all those unlucky campers, trying to get away from a year of pent up stress, won't be able to enjoy Tofino like we did just because YOU took a one hour shower and wasted all the water. Geez....good going...baka...I hate you!

vivienne says...

Pete: In all seriousness, you were pretty accurate about us taking a pic every 3 minutes and posing the rest of the time. LOL I'm not kidding.

Peter says...

good call on that one... i really need to get away from spelling that. in fact as a lawyer, it'll probably be one of the least used words in my vocabulary

tofino crew: just saw the pics... all i can say is wow... you guys must've taken a pic every 3 minutes on that trip... and spent the rest of the time posing haha. but the results are amazing. wish i were there... to kick tim in the groin during one of his hand stands, to play lex luthor to leo's superman, to sit on gordon while he does his pushups in the water, and to throw sand at the girls (don't you regret not having me on the trip now?)

NeverGonnaGrowUp says...

im sorry peter (and im sure joanne and steve would jump at this opportunity too if they had seen this one)

it's the principAL admin :)

Peter says...

i disagree based on the following three (that's 'two' for some of us) arguments:

1. it's karen
2. it's karen
3. karen smells

i'm confident that i have the full support of the principle admin (pat).

(j/k, i agree, i think karen should be admin... but someone should nominate themselves out, cuz four admin is a bit too much... esp. if they all end up fighting in the friggin footer.

NeverGonnaGrowUp says...

im in favor of karen promoted to admin status :)

and i'll talk to u on the blog karen :D until exams hit that is. lets hope i dont regret the decision to slack slack and procrastinate eh? lol

Karen says...

edit: last post.

by 4 folds i meant 5. heheh. being proficient at counting doesn't NECESSARILY mean you're a better blog administrator does it? =P

omg, i have a feeling it'll be a lot of me talking to myself on p&c this year...i will try to curb that as much as possible, i promise!

Monday, August 28, 2006

Karen says...

re: p&c admin

now that all p&c admins are not in vancouver, i was wondering if i can nominate myself to be given admin status??? does it not bug anybody else how un-updated the blog is?! my reasons are 4-folds:

1) i'm IN vancouver
2) i don't work @ work!
3) i don't have a life and don't plan on getting one anytime soon
4) i'm not in school and thus have NADA, ZERO, ZIP to study for!!! (yes that's right!!)
5) i don't know html so i can't make any dramatic changes to the blog that would make other p&c members hurl

okok??? =) =) =)

vivienne says...

TOFINO PICS ARE UP!!!

They are here and I've also send the link via e-mail.

Joanne says...

Ummm, I can temporarily take over Stephen's job I suppose. It's "Where HAVE all the admins gone?" since admins is plural.

Saturday, August 26, 2006

vivienne says...

wow..umm...the quote of the week and headliner are really old. Where has all the admins gone????

Peter says...

ok girls, i think that's enough talk about cute white guys... if i remember correctly, there's a set limit to the number of posts you can have that discuss the attractive qualities of caucasian males... *that's your cue, pat... come up with something!*

not that i'm jealous or anything... asian guys have LOTS of options, like.. (voice trails off)

Friday, August 25, 2006

vivienne says...

Hehe....white boys can be cute, especially brunette ones. :p Hmm..I'm wondering if Chris should be worried you with all the attention that you're getting over in Albany...:D

NeverGonnaGrowUp says...

lol. movie star white boys are quite attractive most of the time. but i had never found any "real life" white boys worthy of staring at for 45 min (someone tall came and sit in between my eyesight and him). lol. and never had white boys start a 1.5hr conversation with me in real life either...lol...yay to being an asian novelty!

Joanne says...

Cindy: You never thought that white boys could be attractive??? I'd like to know what you thought of the leading men whenever you watched movies!!!

NeverGonnaGrowUp says...

talking about losing voices...

i lost my voice too from the consecutive days of screaming in bars and the boat cruise yesterday. i've never partied this hard...for a week now i don't remember a night when i didn't go visit a bar or some sort of party environment, lol...and i'm in med school! (still no drinking beer/piss yet but my wallet is still bleeding from the multiple cranberry juice i ordered)

as an side: never knew i could find white boys attractive. but i do! there are some pretty cute ones in my class...as for girls, lots of brown girls, all kinda on the youngish side tho. lol. funny how the 3 canadians in my class are all chinese asians. alright enough of the vanity, i'll go hide my face in shame now...

Karen says...

peterli: yes i MAY be a slacker...but, but, but...at least i won't see -35 degrees this winter!!! muahahahahaa. i win! =) =) =) and *psst* you need to send me pictures from clubbing/coffee with kb/kba!

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. it's so comforting to know that even when you lose your voice, you can still scream virtually. hahaha. i HATE losing my voice. for someone who tends to babble on and talk too loud and laugh too loud, it's so debilitating to not be able to do ANY OF THAT!!! i'll be all smiles and waves and eyebrows at work today. hahaha.

Peter says...

"only 5 email checks a day and NO web messenger!! =)"

noticed you didn't set a limit on how often you visit P&C huh karen? slacker...

Karen says...

we're baa-aack! and so is joyce!! weehee.

yeah, i've never seen so much green and water and sand in my life. as beautiful as it was, bring on the cement and highways and shopping malls and clean washrooms!!! it was a great trip. and, and, we all learned this week that we CAN cook good food without pat, muahahhaha!!! wish you all could've been there la. i'm super duper refreshed and ready to get back to my optimal efficiency @ work!! ie. only 5 email checks a day and NO web messenger!! =)

TOFINO 2006: Day 3

This was a typical lazy day of camping...we did nothing except eat and chill on the beach and play some big two. We went on a few short hikes, and when I say short, i mean 5min> trails that lead to scenic locations. For lunch, we just went to the local Sugar Shack and had some ice cream and cruised around town a bit while we were at it.

We had an early dinner so we can actually see our food and possibly get a glimpse of the sunset (which didn't happen since it was so cloudy...). But we ended up going to the beach and sat in a hole (literally) and played some P&C games that were weirder than ever and involved saliva in one shape or form.

We must all be feeling our age cause we actually want to hit the sack by midnight...imagine us in a few more years...

Anyhow, PICS will be up STAT!

TOFINO 2006: Day 2

wheeeeeeeeeee...as the first one awake AGAIN, here's a little update on this Tofino trip.

Yesterday, we did a little hike for 3 hrs along the beach where the rocks were an obstacle all in themselves. Who needs a real trail when we can create our own? We then went around town to find Sanpo some warm pants and headed straight towards Long Beach for some nice body surfing (or the guys did anyway). The water was hypothermically freeeeeeeeeezing but the experience was amazing. Afterwards, you would shiver NON-stop for AGES and feel like you would die....worth it? Dunno, but it was still fun.

After a nice warm warm shower and a ten course dinner (which took TWO hours +) we took another nice stroll along the beach and then we split with some of us drinking and some of us sleeping.....

It was another cold night, but when is it not when we camp!

TOFINO 2006: Day 1

This is Gordon reporting live from Tofino. The weather is awesome here (a lil chilly at night but it's all good during the day). It took us about 7 hrs to drive out here...but the trip was definitely worth it. The campsites are tiny as hell, but it gives us that nice cozy (steve sp?) feeling. It's the smallest camping group yet and the first time to the west... weeeeeeeee we just made history!

We have done nothing yet except what we do best on camping trips....EAT. But today we'll probably hit up a beach and maybe even try some body surfing and what not...hike, fish, etc...you know the drill..

Anyhow, some guy is waiting for the net...and looks like he's goign to kill me, so i better head off....

while I was checking my TD bank accounts online, I was listening to my downloaded music. here i was making sure my visa bill got paid, and i glanced over my checking account balance. I noticed that my balance seem to have gone up. "Weird," I thought, "why would mom wire me CAD when i'm in the states?"

I clicked into the account details to have a look. and the line "Birks and Mayors Pay" appeared. Chuckling to myself, I punched some numbers into my calculator, and LOL my goodness! based on the average commission of our goods, (and the fact we get paid every 2 weeks), the last 2 weeks I managed to have sold another 22.5k worth of jewellry despite having been absent from work for the 3rd consecutive month. and then Kanye West's "Diamonds are Forever" song came on. it's just too cool and creepy at the same time!

p.s. FYI, we don't sell blood diamond :D

vivienne says...

Just to reiterate...

YES, I am alive and well! Hmm...I didn't think that my absence would be that noticeable. :P :P :P

Karen says...

yay cindy for breaking the ice!! everybody's reading the blog but nobody's posting! you all know what it's like! you go visit the p&c site for the 6th time that day and STILL, no change in posts! for me, on slow days @ work, it feels more like the 20th time that day. =P i will randomly post things too. headlines from p&c news: vancouver edition.

1) vivienne's ALIVE!!! yeah, viv's been hiding from the p&c crew by NOT answering phone calls, emails, msn, for like two weeks!! apparently it IS doable to hide from us... but yes, viv made contact yesterday. i'm so relieved...=P. i had another vivian as backup for your spot on the camping trip! hahahahahahaa.

2) peter's gone to alberta. nobody else from p&c was there to see it but me, but he was HAMMERED that night at the plaza. =P. it was a good party though. you guys missed out! *cue image of peter's mellowed out, content with oneself, kinda smiley, drunk expression, you all know what that looks like hahahah* good luck in edmonton, peter. =) =) =)

3) ben's gone to europe. his last vacation before the official beginning of gradschool!! hope it's absolutely amazing.

4) tofino trip!! we're leaving this sunday. coming back on wednesday of next week!! organization credits go to gordon/leo/tim. the girls are doing NADA this time 'round hehe. sit back and relax viv =) =) =). weehee. so excited!

5) another great neutrinos summer. it's finished guys. we are a proud 2nd place team in div.7! okay, maybe not that proud. but it was a great summer with the ultimate/eating team, lotsa food, lotsa barbecues, lotsa mafia (eek, we've killed mafia TWICE now), lotsa fun. maybe more food than ultimate...hehehehe.

6) joyce is coming back next week!!! as steve would say: w00t! =P

yeep, that's all for now. reporting live, kTO in vancouver.

what have u guys been doing in van? when is ur tofino trip?

Monday, August 14, 2006

Stephen says...

Well, we live in Winnipeg now. It's really weird. I swore to myself that I'd never move back, but I guess you can never predict the future...

Our matress became mouldy somehow over the course of the move, and getting an insurance claim is nearly impossible if you haven't documented things for yourself before themove took place. Lesson: take photos of EVERYTHING before using a moving company (all sides of desks, matresses, tables, etc.). Also, make sure you understand how they are marking your sheet before you sign it. Our company used numeric codes to say that our matress was worn and stained, but we didn't figure that out until hours after they left when we got to fully examine the sheet. The matress is only a year old, so it can't really be stained, and it sure as hell isn't worn because it's made of memory foam and that doesn't wear!

Anyways, it's all fixed now because we just cut out a superficial layer of the matress (the place where the mould was didn't penetrate the core of the matress) and as long as we don't flip it (we won't have to because it's foam), we'll never be able to tell that it was cut.

Apart from that, things are good. There are no mosquitoes this year (a first), but the wasps are nuts. You can't go outside without getting swarmed! I've never seen anything like it.

That's about all the news for now. Have fun with the rest of your summers!

Gordon: it's "brutal".

Karen says...

oh crap. *ahem* after being complimented on my BRO duties, i then fail to deliver.

a VERY VERY apologetic and very belated

happy 23rd birthday to GARY!!!

Your Disease is Hiding under all Your Fat:

As if you don't have enough medical concerns if you're overweight, a new report in Radiology Journal has found that increasing numbers of Americans are too fat to fit into X-ray machines and are not receiving proper diagnosis of their conditions. Not only are many Americans too large to fit into medical scanning devices, but the ultrasound waves are unable to penetrate through large amounts of fatty tissues and so are unable to create an accurate image. According to this report, the number of overweight patients who were unable to fit into the X-ray machines has doubled in the past 15 years. (BBC)

The Future is Phat:

Speaking of fat, among the many predictions tossed around at last year's convention of the World Future Society was news from Thomas T. Jack Bauer says "Don't bring liquids onboard a plane, or I will rip it out of your cold dead hands within 24 hours."

lol saw this on the bbc website and thought i'd share it with u guys:

"Seems strange to me whenever American or British Politicians are in trouble with the electro, low and behold a terrorist plot surfaces

-Don Nuttall, Van. Canada

Seems stranger to me that whenever a terrorist plot is foiled or tragically carried out lo and behold a conspiracy theory arises.

-Eric Loadman "

rofl I love the bbc discussions, as some of them are pretty insightful or funny, or both.

Anyway, although not being allowed to bring toothpaste/shampoo/liquids onto the plane is kind of a nuisance, I do believe that it's a small price to pay for potentially saving my life. I just wish they provide toothpaste on board =D

have a nice day

NeverGonnaGrowUp says...

hahaha...

no steve, i am not assuming all black people are thugs! just so that happens everybody in my neighborhood appears to be black and im sorta being checked out a lot as the only asian chick on the block...i don't pretend to be pretty, but i've never been hit on by so many guys in such a short span of time...

re: viv. thanks! i made some more changes to my apartment (just adding some rugs here and there) but i'm gonna wait and see how i like them before i post them up. my landlords are pretty young, my parents' age actually - late 50's, early 60's?

re: joanne. you betcha! the L shaped table is the same as papie's, except mine is cheery colored wood with silver colored legs and his is maple colored wood with black legs. the love seat is also his suggestion, but mine is not a sleeper sofa like his - i.e. mine is much more comfy! i also borrowed his idea of a personal tray/table thing for the sofa so i can eat and watch tv at the same time...LOL. overall i've been combining papie's decorating advice with TV shows that i watch regularly ("while you were out" on TLC for example), and finding a middle ground somewhere along the way...

despite what papie claims, one thing is for sure: putting furniture only against the wall is so newb - i inisist on having stuff jutt out in the middle of the room and therefore creating useless pockets of space!

Hello fellow Canadians..

watashi am in Japan right now and omg.. it is the strangest thing ever. I seriously feel like I fell into a Japanese drama and I have no idea what is going on. It`s kind of funny right now but I can see this becoming less of a novelty eventually.

Anyways, no new exciting developments because everything is SOOO FRICKING exciting. Anyways, when I get internet at home and I can post some of my pics online I will start to do that.

happy 23rd birthday to the newest member of the p&c crew -- KBA!!! (aka howieeeee.) have a good one. =) =) =).

Stephen says...

Hey yo,

Lots has happened, it seems, since last I checked the blog.

Peter: We are staying with Haneen until Saturday. Unfortunately we won't be able to make it to the party as I fly out at noon, and Star follows at 6:00. Have a great time, though! If you want to get ahold of us before we go, the number is 604-736-8487.

Chris: Glad you're enjoying Windsor. I could have told you about the inflated prices. It's really terrible! Now you've got me all excited to stick needles into people, though!

Joyce: Taiwan sounds great! Eat extra goodies for me and Star!

Cindy: I'm glad you like the place. Good landlords are very important! Much more important than living in a posh area. Because if something goes wrong, they should be the ones fixing it, not you. Asshole landlords exist at all levels, and if they won't fix stuff it's better off that said stuff doesn't cost a lot of money when you have to do it yourself! Why are you afraid of black people? Are you asssuming that all black people are thugs and gangsters?

Tuesday, August 08, 2006

vivienne says...

Cindy: Your apartment looks very cute! I like how those "handiwork" lamps are all over your apartment. LOL...and that full-length mirror is also really adorable, lucky your landlords are so nice! I'm guessing that they're really glad that you're a nice, well-behaved med student instead of some college bum. *grin* Hmm...are the landlords the nice elderly ones? 'cause those ones tend to be the best...

NeverGonnaGrowUp says...

allo allo!!!

yes i'm alive and well in albany. almost settled into my apartment now, and i posted pictures on my msn space - it's one way to get you guys to go and visit it lol. i need to go and run to macy's to buy myself some nice comfy indoor shoes before the sun sets and i get hungry, so bye for now - but i will come back and update you guys on the newest pictures of the apartment, alright?

p.s. poor neighborhood or not, i like my apartment lol. and more importantly, i love my landlords! haven't had too many scary encounters with gangsters/thugs/black guys staring at my buttocks, but i do have a curiously helpful neighbor across the hall. not too sure what to make of him yet (i.e. whether he's too shy to make eye contact or just likes to look down, which also happens to be at my chest level), but i did borrow a hammer from him which i should return with a small box of chocolate or something. have to think about it.

Karen says...

woohoo blog activity!

i just finished my huge-a**ed presentation this morning, which should keep me in my boss' good books for the next couple weeks while i slack off and then ask for vacation time to go to tofino! weehee. price of being outside of the boss' radar for the next little while: 2 days of my long weekend on house arrest staring into microsoft powerpoint. grrr.

joyce: i've ALWAYS wanted one of those umbrellas!!! *recalls many moments where i'm fumbling to close those expandable umbrellas with armfuls of stuff* is it cheap in tw? is it convenient for you to get me one? =P =P =P

chris: have fun in windsor. i can see the parents now: WHAT?! he's only done ONE year of medschool and he's poking needles into my BABY!!! hehe. we'll update you on tofino. should be fun =).

Christopher says...

Allo Allo,

Finally I'm back on the internet! I'm currently in Windsor, ON for an observership. Windsor has been pretty nice, especially since I'm located right next to the river. I've been fishing frequently in the river (despite concerns about the pollution level). Windsor is a pretty small town, with a horrendously expensive and ineffective public transit system. My bus pass for the month cost me 80 dollars, which I'm none too happy about. Other than that its pretty nice here and the smog, whil noticeable isnt any worse than Toronto.

Its amazing that I've gone a week pretty much without internet. I wouldn't have thought it was possible.

I've had tons of novel experiences. I've given injections to various babies, and had their parents glare at me after the kid starts bawling. Its a great way to start your morning, inflicting suffering upon young babies and have everyone in the room upset at you lol.

Anyhow this will be my life for the next month, so I'll try to periodically report back.

And onto comments:

Stephen: how goes the transition to Winnipeg?

Peter: Have fun at your good bye party and have fun moving to edmonton.

Ben: If you haven't left already, you can exchange your money at the currency exchange at Granville and Broadway. I found that they had the best exchange rate. Never exchange money at banks as their rates are horrid. Also send me a postcard from whereever hasn't been taken. My addy is:

38 Elm St.
Suite #1505

All: So whats your guys' plan for the Tofino trip? Let me know how it goes, I want to go there some day.

Take care everyone.

Joyce says...

Hi everyone~~
mwahaha... Taiwan's great!
I've gained about 1 kg (on top of the 3 kg gained in vancouver) so far, and been living a very artsy-fartsy life since comming out of my jet-lag last wednesday. Aside from picking up my piano, practicing and annoying the hell out of my neighbours for few hours everyday, I've been trying to read like mad. The selection is amazing: translated European, American, Japanese works, works our very own Taiwanese authors, and mwahaha.. my guilty pleasure, light-hearted and cheesy internet novels in print. :p

ahh.. a typhoon is comming, and I just bought the coolest umbrella ever. It's as tiny as those tiny umbrellae I have but automatically opens and CLOSES.

Peter says...

those of you in vancouver should have already received my evite but i just wanted to announce on here that i'm planning a clubbing thing at caprice on saturday. i'll be leaving for edmonton on sunday and i basically wanted to get everybody together for a fun night. my friend winnie has her bday bash that same night so i'm combining with her. should be really fun even if, like me, you don't go out clubbing very much... if you didn't get the invite, just make a post and give me your email address.

okok, i got another good one or two

In 96 hours, Jack Bauer has killed 93 people and saved the world 4 times. What the fuck have you done with your life?

Kim Bauer was an accident. Not even the pill can stop Jack Bauer.

=P I'm so addicted to these ever since P&C's lil Chuck Norris diversion a while ago

Unknown says...

I think an explanation is in order.

The reason I said 1 per city was cuz I wasn't gonna send everyone a postcard every city I go to... Which would amount to something like .... let's see... 11 cities... times however many P&C members.... over a hundred!!! YAY I'm broke even before I start travelling. So I was thinking if I sent one per city, everyone would get one, and y'all will get a taste of BenGay's adventures all throughout Europe. Anyway, I can do both of you for Pompeii, no problem laaaaa.

Oh, anyone know a good place to do currency exchange... Some stores charge a lot it seems =S

Onto randomness:
On "24", If everyone listened to Jack Bauer whenever there is a crisis, the show would be called "12".

XD I killed myself laughing on this one...

Cindy: It really sucks having to go through all that crap. Don't worry, everything will pan out just fine. If there's anything I've learned from customer service, it's that if you throw a fit, you will almost definitely get what you want. Seriously, I can't tell you how many times I've seen managers cave in to whiny, annoying people. Just piss them off until they're ready to give you what you want just to get you out of their hair. It works every time!

Tim: Are you really too lazy to just type out "whatever"?

Tim says...

Baah, I still don't get it..oh well w/e

Karen says...

- random things -

on the bus the other day, i saw a store called: "WEE ONES RE-RUNS". guess what they sell? it's a children's clothing consignment store! heh, i thought it was kinda clever/cute.

also, my UNDER-RATED item of the day: page protectors!!! =P

vivienne says...

Tim: If you read Ben's post carefully, he threatened to send only one postcard per city, and dibbs to the first ones to respond with a city. :p

Tim says...

VVN: I don't get it...it's a freakin postcard. You can't get two from the same place?

Joyce says...

are you guys doing something tonight? no one's online.

anyway... AHHHH

NeverGonnaGrowUp says...

p.s. and i forgot my manners again. Thanks you guys for your support and encouragement...I will keep those in mind the next time I'm about to blow up on bank managers/customer service persons/the next unlucky person when cindy is volatile!

vivienne says...

Cindy: Yeah, it's amazing how banks can be so totally clueless. :p I remember how ten years ago my mom tried to get her Australian cheques deposited into her account and they've never even SEEN an Australian cheque. LOL

Tim: Back off, bucko! Pompeii's already mine. :p

NeverGonnaGrowUp says...

found: a nice apartment in a "poor neighborhood" (not quite the ghettoist part of town, but pretty darn close). close to school tho - 10 min walk. time for some hard core immersion of new york culture! maybe i'll pick up some attitude and street dance moves. will post pictures later cuz the ones i took today ddint do it justice. moving in tomorrow and internet wont be ready until next tues night so...no internet for me for a looooong time

troubled over: how bank managers of a big bank in a small town is more useless than a teller of a small bank in a big town. i've gone over to see the Key bank manager twice now to ask about receiving wired money from my dad and she is of zero help. she didn't even know a swift code existed for her bank. she had to call and find out. just really annoyed at the small inconveniences such as their lack of experience with international students, ...and im esp mad cuz it's urgent and important. sigh.

Karen says...

dear stressed-out,

*hugs* it's okay. first couple days are always super hectic! i'm sure that in time you'll somehow build yourself a lovely home in albany =P. in the meantime, know that all your friends back home are rooting for you and wish you well. =P

take care cindy...soon, it'll be you posting pictures up of your apartment!

NeverGonnaGrowUp says...

stressed-out in albany

needed: apartment. ANY apartment. ahhhhhh!!! i walked around all day and called at least 30 landlords. more like 50. and no response!!

on the positive note, opened a bank account and got a cell phone. no money in the bank yet tho and expensive phone plan...i miss my $20/month student plan. my current plan is twice as expensive (in USD) and my unlimited night & weekends start at 9pm and ends at 6am. damn rip-off-ers...

faced lots of obstacles too when i was running errands cuz i'm canadian. not sure if joyce had to face the same thing but i almost couldn't open an bank account or the cell phone account because i don't have an SSN...and i couldn't rent this nice apartment cuz i didn't qualify for a co-signer (cuz i have no income and hadnt worked for over a year). or maybe it's cuz it's just a small town that don't do well with foreigners. sigh...

gotta find an apartment without the hassels of co-signers soon. did i really come too late? so stressed out and worried...wish me luck
